Experience from both sides of the table
Hi, I’m Jeremy.
I help business owners gain clarity, stay in control and make confident decisions.
After graduating from Oxford University, I trained as a Chartered Accountant and spent ten years supporting SMEs across audit, accounts, tax and advisory services at PwC and smaller accountancy firms.
I then spent almost a decade in senior leadership roles within a large group of family-owned businesses, working across finance, risk, compliance and sustainability.
As part of the leadership team, I helped support growth from £75m to £125m, including several acquisitions, while improving systems and processes that allowed the business to scale without increasing administrative headcount.
Having worked both as an adviser and within a growing business, I understand the challenges from both sides of the table.
I founded Harbourlight to bring together the technical expertise of professional practice and the commercial insight gained from working within businesses navigating growth and change.
My aim is simple: to help business owners feel informed, supported and confident in the decisions they make.
Outside work, I keep active where I can, whether that’s tennis, cycling, running or paddleboarding in Poole Harbour.
Let’s navigate your next stage of growth together.

FAQs
Fit & Access
-
Absolutely. We work with sole traders, start-ups and smaller businesses. Many businesses require straightforward bookkeeping and tax support before introducing additional services as they develop.
-
Absolutely. We work with clients across the UK, including Poole and the wider Dorset area, using cloud-based accounting systems. You’ll receive the same level of support and expertise wherever you are.
The only difference is that an occasional in-person catch-up is less practical, but otherwise everything works in the same way.
-
We're probably not the right fit if you're looking for a purely transactional service focused on filing returns at the lowest possible cost, or if you prefer traditional manual and paper-based processes.
We work best with business owners who want clearer information and guidance, efficient systems and ongoing support to help build a stronger and more future-ready business.
-
You’ll work directly with me throughout, so you always have a consistent point of contact who understands your business.
Getting Started
-
It's usually much easier than people expect. We handle the handover with your existing accountant and manage the transfer of information behind the scenes, keeping disruption to a minimum.
Your main role is simply helping us understand your business so we can start supporting you effectively.
-
Not at all. Many clients begin with bookkeeping, accounts or tax support and add further services over time as their business grows.
-
Certainly. We work alongside business owners, bookkeepers and internal finance teams. Support can range from compliance oversight and process improvements through to management reporting and strategic advice, depending on your needs.
Services & Pricing
-
A traditional accountant typically focuses on compliance, reporting and making sure legal obligations are met.
A Fractional FD helps you look ahead, supporting decisions around growth, cash flow, profitability, risk and planning.
Many businesses benefit from both.
-
We offer fixed fees based on the level of support you need, with everything clearly scoped upfront.
Ongoing support typically ranges from £250 to £750+ per month, depending on the size and complexity of the business and the level of support required.
One-off services, such as Self-Assessment tax returns, can also be quoted separately.
We'll talk everything through before any work begins, ensuring the scope and pricing are clear from the outset, with no hidden costs or surprise bills.
-
We’ll talk through your business and recommend the right level of support. Services can be added or removed over time as requirements change.
We typically start with an initial six-month period to ensure a smooth setup, followed by a rolling monthly arrangement.
Still have questions?
We're always happy to talk things through.
Three simple steps to financial clarity
Getting started is straightforward, with a clear process designed around your business and goals.
1
Start the conversation
We begin with a phone or video call to understand your business, your current setup and where support will add the most value.
It's a straightforward, no-obligation discussion.
2
Receive a tailored proposal
You'll receive a transparent, fixed-fee proposal tailored to your needs, with a clear scope of support and simple monthly pricing.
We'll talk everything through together and answer any questions before you decide how you'd like to proceed.
3
Onboard and get set up
We handle the transition from your previous accountant (if needed) and work with you to put the right systems, processes and reporting in place.
Together, we'll build the foundations for reliable financial information and greater visibility across your business.
Every business is different, so our onboarding process is tailored to your needs.
We take the time to understand what matters most to you and your business and put the right systems, support and reporting in place from the outset.
